Probably one of the lightest brushless FPV BNF machine available with a total weight of 33.3g AWG: https://www.banggood.com/Cute66-66mm-Wheelbase-Teeny-F4-OSD-Brushless-DIY-5_8G-FPV-Racing-Drone-w-600TVL-Camera-BNF-p-1274422.html This machine is the F4 version of the LightSpeed BeeBee66 Lite (review coming soon). The Flight Controller is upgraded to the Teeny F4 version with 6A 4-in-1 ESC builtin elements. It used exactly the same 66mm frame (thickness of 1mm) and same camera mount 3D printed. The FPV rig is also identical based on a basic 5.8G 32CH 25mW 600TVL CMOS AIO module… Three choice of receivers are proposed: a) FrSky D8 model (RSSI available ?), b) FlySky AFHDS-2A and c) Spektrum DSM2/X. The bundle includes a 260mAh LiHV battery to boost performances. No propguard here… the main question is the durability of the frame and the 3D-printed camera support. INTRODUCTION Emax recently has upgraded a lot of their Micro FPV racers and among the last we have now a super compact machine, i.e. the BabyHawk-R. Two models are proposed: one in 110mm format, the second in 130mm. For both, the electronic remains the same: a F3 Omnibus based FC with a builtin OSD, 12A 4-in-1 BLheli_S/Dshot 600 ESC 4S compatible, strong 1106/6000KV motors. For the FPV part, we have a 40CH module able to output either 25mW or 200mW. The associated camera is a 650TVL CCD model from Foxeer. The Babyhawk is also proposed in PNP or BNF configuration with either a FrSky D8 receiver or a FlySky AFHDS-2A one. Let’s discover this new FPV racer. BOX CONTENT + 1 x Emax BabyHawk-R + 4 x Spare props (2 CW, 2 CCW) + 1 x JST canector + 1 x Camera’s OSD control board + 1 x Bag of screws (M2 format mainly) + 2 x Instruction manual (English) OVERVIEW The 2″ machine is super compact and lightweight. In comparaison of the Eachine Lizard 105S and the Aurora RC mini, we have something more similar to the 105S. What on the main difference is about the motors/props choice. Stronger motors but shorter props for the Emax in opposition with the Lizard 105S. 110mm format with strong 3mm carbon arms -FRONT VIEW The general look is pretty cool thanks to this rounded top plastic canopy structure. This is the unique plastic element in this machine. Everything else is either carbon or metal ones. Both the 2.4G & the 5.8G antennas are linear ones and installed vertically more in the rear section. The machine accepts up to 4S LiPo but batteries plays also the role of landing skid…. Be aware in case of massive downward crashed. -SIDE VIEW The left side shows the main microUSB port connexion. Be aware, you will have to use a thin microUSB plug to able to connect the machine into Betaflight. More a 220uF condensateur is here to filter out any interferences from motors dirting the FPV signal… but in another hand, this cap can blocke partially the microUSB port access. You will need to bend gently the cap. Maybe a better location of the cap would have been a better choice. Each 3mm carbon arms are themselves jailed between two 1.5mm carbon plates. The battery strap is pre-installed… leaving a small gap between the ESC board and the nearby carbon plate. On the front left side, you can find a compact 1.25mmm 2p microJST connector to plug the OSD’s control panel of the Foxeer arrow CCD camera. Notice you can set the the tilt orientation with these two front M2 hexscrews. The main problem they are also used to lock the top canopy plastic stucture. The right side shows almost hidden the small button associated with the VTX. Not so obvious to access…. -REAR VIEW The 2.4G unique antenna associated with the FrSky D8 receiver is installed vertically via this small hole in rear section of the top canopy. No real risk to cut the antenna with props’s rotation. -UPPER VIEW Thanks to the transparent top canopy structure, we can read very well the content of the LCD Display. Notice also out of the box, the FrSky receiver is installed centrally and it’s not possible to reach the bind button either by the small top canopy hole or latteraly. I had to shift it to the left to access directly the bind button. Another minor detail for the LCD display. If the current Vband and #channel number are correctly displayed cyclaly every second, I regret that the current Vpower (l for 25mW or h for 100mW) is not also displayed. This setting is only displayed, when you enter into the VTX’s menu. -BOTTOM VIEW A small rubber anti-slicing pad is pre-installed. Just peel off the small plastic to use it. The battery strap is thin…. and versus time don’t inspire any confident on its own durability. Handle it gently each time you fasten the battery. The battery strap is based on two parts glued togather…. It will break relatively fast. -WEIGHT Close to 150g with a 4S 550mAh LiPo battery… Motors and props Here are installed some strong 1106 brushless motors. They are referenced @6000Kv for being 4S compatible. 1.5mm shaft section Some 2″ quadriblades…. where for example the 105S uses more some 2.5″ model (but with 1104 motors) and the Aurora RC mini directly some 3″ (with the same 1106 motor type)…. Clearly, we can announce that Babyhawk will be a little bit less powerfull vs the Aurora RC mini. Camera and 5.8G VTX modules One really positive element of this new BabyHawk-R is the presence of a CCD camera, more precisely a Foxer Arrow Camera. It’s a 650TVL model with a FOV equivalent to 120 degrees. Thanks to the leftward connector, you can plug the control’s board to enter into camera advanced settings. For example here, you can turn the camera into NTSC or PAL configuration. The camera orientation tilt angle can be ajusted via the two latteral M2 hexscrews. The nominal angle is +20 degrees and for advanced pilots you can increase the angle up to +50 degrees. A minor negative point: if you want to remove the top canopy element, you will also release the camera… and it’s a bit tricky to reinstall everything. The VTX Vband/Vfreq selection, not only is a bit hard due to the location of the unique button…. but the general flowchart is completly different than standard VTX behaviour. First of all, you must hold the button to enter into or to exit from the meny at anytime. Then by short pressing, you can select one of the three main sections: Band(R), Freq(C), Power(P). To enter into one of them, long press 2s… then short-press to change the Vband, the Vfreq or the Vpower. It takes a couple of minutes to be accustomed with but in practice this system is easy. I simply regret that the output power is only displayed during the setting selection. Disassembling Out of the box, the bind button of the FrSky receiver is not directly reachable. Good news for the FrSky receiver, the RSSI is exported for the OSD on the AUX5. UNBOXING, ANALYSIS, CONFIGURATION AND DEMO FLIGHT The machine comes with Betaflight 3.2.2 pre-installed… and good news and it’s rare when it can be mentioned, everything is well configured out of the box: receiver, PIDs, rates, OSD and flight modes. Even filter settings have been optimized and by default dynamic filtering, air mode and antigravity are permanently turned on. Maybe for the last two options, it’s not a perfect choice if you plan to fly this machine in angle mode (for landing operation for example). The machine starts to hover from 35-40% in 4S so clearly a bit more than with the Lizard 105S for example. Anyway, this machine is super powerfull…. Punchouts remain impressive…. What the more remarkable with is how this machine flies….. ultra stable…. even in angle mode… Impressive. Even with the presence of wind, it’s a pure happyness to fly with….. Acro style flights are really fun with and air-suspension feeling looks like hours with :). With a 550mAh 4S LiPo, you can expect 3min30-4min of flight duration for acro sessions. Anyway, I am sure it’s liked with the machine or my radio but I had maybe twice time some micro F/S beyond 70-80m of distance. You can see in the videos that the RSSI went at minimum at 25%…. Clearly the builtin receiver is far to have the best performances and a FrSky XM+ would have been a much better choice. CONCLUSIONS Emax with the Babyhawk-R has a pretty good machine, one of the best in the market …. It’s powerfull, 4S ready, very well tuned, durable and solid. There are some little details to optimize but no real negative rebuking points can be noticed. If you are interested with this machine, 4S 600 LiHV and a FrSky XM+ should be the perfect companions for this babyhawk. PROS + 4S machine + F3 w/OSD + Durable carbon structure + Very well tuned out of the box + Good CCD camera + Powerfull + Buzzer + FrSky D8 receiver with RSSI on the last channel CONS – Condensator fragile and badly located – FrSky bind button not easy to access – FrSky receiver with not impressive control range – Fragile battery strap – Missing output VTX’s power display – No lights Dump_BH_R_2P This quadcopter have been courtesy provided by Gearbest in order to make a fair and not biased review. I would like to thank them for this attitude. You can find it actually for 150USD at https://www.gearbest.com/brushless-fpv-racer/pp_1478640.html View the full article

A new SPCMaker 2″ FPV brushless racer is announced: https://www.banggood.com/SPC-Maker-X90-FPV-Racing-Drone-PNP-Omnibus-F3-Flight-Controller-15A-Blheli_S-ESC-800TVL-Camera-p-1272648.html SPCMaker usually got more deluxe products with high-end electronics elements. Here with this new SPC-X90, we have a more affordable machine. How they managed ? No secret, they had to downgrade some elements. For example the frame is no more a 3mm but here 2mm. The ESC no more 28A… but here only 15A. The FPV camera no more a CCD model but a good 800TVL CMOS model… The flight controller is announced to be a simple F3. I really hope also they fixed they MPU problem… Remember the SPC-90NC was unflyable out of the box. In the bundle, they removed also all batteries and no more transportation bag. Any advanced RCmodelist should have a powermeter. And ImmersionRC will introduce the version V2: https://www.banggood.com/ImmersionRC-RF-Power-Meter-v2-w-Integrated-8-hour-Battery-for-RC-Drone-p-1271734.html This kind of tool is able to measure directly the output of a VTX working in large range of carrier and not only reserved for the 5.8Ghz band. More, if you plug the provided 2dBi antenna, you can measure wireless the received signal and if you move the powermeter around the source, you can even draw a radiation diagram. With the V2, now the 30dB attenuator is internal (good point). Thanks to it, you can plug via the RP-SMA any input from -20dBm (1mW) up to 30dBM (1000mW). More there is an internal LiPo for a 8h non-stop usage. A small OLED 128×64 display is here. The V2 adds a PowerScope mode where data packets are display in time domain. In can be very usefull to check the correct behaviour of a transmission. INTRODUCTION Boldclash has understood quicky than other 65mm-75mm brushless competitors are now offering TinyWhoop machines with directly a Builtin OSD (cf. HBRC model for example). In reaction, Boldclash just announced a new “Whoopcore” Flight Controller board including this magic ingredient: http://www.boldclash.com/boldclash-b06-13-upgrade-f3-flingt-controller-built-in-esc-28-5-28-5mm-p175.html. The board is still including some 3A (peak @5A) 4-in-1 BLheli_S/Dshot600 ESC. In order too boost even more performances, they also propose new 0703 motors now running @20 000Kv (instead of 15 000Kv). The gain in term of powerlift is 5g per motor (28g vs 23g @4.2v). If you are not able to assemble this new KIT, you can wait a couple of months to see the new revision of the B06 including directly all these new elements. BOX CONTENT + 1 x Whoopcore Flight controller (F3 + OSD) + 1 x Bag with spare screws & rubber O-rings + 4 x 0703/20000Kv motors with 1.25mm 3p JST connector Motors Not only motors now are boosted with an extra +25% faster tranlated into a +5g extra lift (+21%), but the general design is also improved. Magnets in the rotors are now better spaced and the more important, no more early motor’s bell ejection after a crash for example. An improved C-clip system is installed. Flight Controller On top you can find the connexion for the F2H AIO module on top. If you plan to install a 1.25mm 4p connector, be aware coz this connector will partially block the top canopy re-installation. It will be in contact with the camera module of the F2H. I decided to use two 1.0mm 2p JST connector (I didn’t have nearby such 1.25mm 4p connector). On the left, the former FC, on the right the new whoopcore. As you can see, the main lead power cable is wider… and handle stronger amount of current by consequence. No real difference in term of weight Once desoldered, you can reflash a FrSky XM firmware able to output the RSSI on the last channel. Be aware, with the last official one available at FrSky website (XM170323), at least for the 8CH version + RSSI, no sign of RSSI activity :(… It has been reported than the XM161221 works (but only in 16CH model) UNBOXING, ANALYSIS, BUILDING, CONFIGURATION ABD DEMO FLIGHT No real difficulty during the assembling. You must cut the video signal to feed the VTX and camera pads respectively. In term of betaflight configuration, initially i pushed all Gyros & Main PID loop up to 8Khz. I observed that the machine required regulary accelero recalibration and more can be instable. The trick is to keep to original settings to 8Khz/2Khz. Clearly you can feel the difference in term of power whith these new motors…. They give much more power… and now no problem for acro style figures. The machine is generally more responsive and sporty. In term of flight time, there is a small negative impact, about 20-30s…. Average flight time are now about 3min30-4min with the original 450mAH LiPo. I really hope, they will offer a LiHv model in the new BNF revision. CONCLUSIONS The Boldclash B06 was already a good machine and for sure with this Upgrade Kit, it’s the best 75mm TinyWhoop Brushless FPV machine. Eveything is here… durable to crash (even motors), good powerlift, stable, great indoors trainer and can now handle a moderate wind outdoors. The flight autonomy and the control range are also good. Of course this Ugrade kit is relatively expensive… (30+40 USD approximatively)… Maybe it’s better to wait the new major BNF revision of the B06 just sligtly more expensive. PROS + Boosted motor performances + No more easy motor’s bell ejection + Acro/free style compable + OSD + Wider lead power cable CONS – >=4hz, gyros need to recalibrated often – FPV camera connexion with a 4p 1.25mm connector blocked partially with the above F2H camera – No more boot microswitch This Kit have been courtesy provided by Boldclash in order to make a fair and not biased review. I would like to thank them for this attitude. 2016-2017 were the years of the massive introduction of cheap FPV mask, especially with the excellent EV800D. Here is the successor: https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-EV900-5_8G-40CH-HDMI-AR-VR-FPV-Goggles-5-Inch-19201080-HD-Display-Built-in-Battery-p-1270784.html It’s still a 5″ model but now the design is completly changed. Not only the 5″ built-in screen is able to display an HD 1080p source @120Hz of refresh rate… but all the signal processing is bounded under 50ms maximum. More they adopt a new type of lens deblurring the image, improving this general quality versus a classic Fresnel Lens. The FOV is huge, about 85 degrees, perfect for a massive immersion. The EV900 includes a 48CH diversity builtin 5.8G receiver but no builtin DVR directly integrated. You will need to plug one via the AVin/Avout port, for example the EV100 DVR module. INTRODUCTION The Eachine Lizard 105S is the successor of the top seller Lizard 95. So a lot of pressure over the Eachine’s shoulders to propose an even better machine. First, they upgrade most of the electronic elements. Now we have a F4 board running @8Khz and of course with a builtin OSD. The ESC are rated 28A !!!! Just impressive and by consequence, the 105S runs in 4S directly out of the box. Motors are 1104 but spinning only @6000Kv to be 4S compatible. One of the main novelty is the camera-VTX rig. Not only the signal is broadcasted classicaly among one of the 48CH either @25mW or 200mW but !!!! cherry on the cake, the clean inboard video signal is also directly recorded in 720p@60fps without extra latency. It’s a kind of 720p version of the runcam split mini… All these ingredients look terribly interesting. Let’s check if in practice… no bad surprizes are not around the corner. BOX CONTENT + 1 x Eachine Lizard 105S + 1 x 550mAh 4S LiPo with XT30 connector + 4 x Spare props (2 CW, 2 CCW) + 4 x Prop guards + 8 x M2x7mm hexscrews + 2 x Zip-ties + 1 x Velcro band + 1 x Damping band + 1 x Screwdriver + 1 x Allen key + 1 x Instruction manual (English) OVERVIEW Here is the complete technical caracteristics The machine is a 103mm … so slightly larger than the former 95 The most surprizing point is the complexity of the frame structure. The main lower structure is not a unique carbon element. In fact it’s a mixture between aluminium brackets and carbon arm/bar elements. The idea is to reinforce by two latteral bars the durability of arms to crack. More these latter offer their main section vertically. Motors themselves, are attaches to these arms with two aluminimum elements. The assembling/disassembling of this frame is long. The only advantage is the extra durability….. but comparatively is at least 10g more heavier vs other 110mm frames. Thickness of the main arms and for the latteral bar The latteral vertical plates are also 1.5mm carbon based. -FRONT VIEW The 105S offers a central main hub section where the camera is fully protected to any frontal shocks What a pity, there is no frontal white light for LOS/night flights. As you can see, the battery plays the role of podium…. be aware in case of hard landing to not damage it. -SIDE VIEW The left side shows the main rubbon cable linking the flight controller to the external dampned MPU (6800 based). This ribbon cable is fragile. Notice also, for the best 2.4G antenneas positionning, you can use the two zip-ties provided to install them more solidely vertically a bit more further of the 5.8G antenna. More just above this ribbon cable, upside down, you can guess the microSD card slot… It’s tricky to insert it but it’s possible with fingers. Be sure to insert it gently by not domaging the ribbon cable nearby. No click feedback for the insertion. For the extraction, you need a twizzer, it’s not possible even with your nails. The right side presents the microUSB port. No specific board alignment is required in betaflight configuration. More the third board from bottom is the DVR one. A unique button is here to start/stop 720p recordings. Notice, when you will power the machine, the recording will be automatically turned on. Don’t forget to stop recording. When recording, the blue light will blink and stay solid when no recording. If you press and hold this button while plugging the battery, you can change the system either in NTSC (default) or PAL format. -REAR VIEW Out of the box, you will need to fix the small bar with two LED lights and the buzzer on the rear tail just below the prop. This bar has a simple double side tape… The installation versus time will fail and you will need a better fixing solution… with glue for example. At least the two lights can be programmed via betaflight, but out of the box there are well configured: indicating throttle inputs and turning directions. You can also cleary see that the IMU modul is softmounted to absorbe vibrations. -UPPER VIEW The FrSky XM+ with its ultra tiny bind-F/S button. Good news, the firmware installed (international) exports the RSSI for the OSD!!! -BOTTOM VIEW A small carbon plate protect the bottom part of the electronic tower. In addition of the slim battery strap pre-installed, tape the velcro band to completely secure the battery installation. -WEIGHT About 146.5g AUW… with a 4S LiPo… so around 36g more heavier than the original Lizard 95 in 3S setup (110.4g) Motors Motors are 1104@6000Kv models…. Maybe we could expect some 1106 version here … to boost even more performances. Notice this strange motor support system based on two aluminimum brackets jailing the arms. At the base of the arm, the arm is attached via two screws to the main frame aluminium bracket. Unfortunaly some little play can be here, especially after few crash. Inspect regulary these screws. LiPo Among the novelty, a pretty good 4S 550mAh LiPo ending with XT30 connector. The discharge rate is 60C … so no problem to feed hungry motors and VTX. Camera and VTX modules The VTX board is the top one under the cockpit. It’s a 48CH divided into six sub-bands. One unique button is available, in practice not super easy to access, at least it’s not possible without a screwdriver/stick. Unfortunatly, as far I know, this VTX is not compatible with the IRC Tramp/Smart audio protocol to change settings through Betaflight. Vband/Vfreq selection is classic. Short press to cycle among the eight Vfreq inside the selected current Vband. Long press more than 3s then release the button to change the Vband. I would prefer an automatic Vband shifting without requiring the release of the button… For the 105S, you can change by accident the output power by accident via waiting hold more than 10s this button. The Cloverleaf antenna is connected via a uFL connector, a good point for maintenance… but I advise to secure completly the installation by adding a small drop of hot glue on the connector. The camera got a 1/4″ CMOS sensor and record natively in 1280x720p. The signal is directly send to the DVR and recorded @60fps. Of course to be transmitted via analog 5.8G link, the video signal is then downscaled to either NTSC or PAL format. The good news and probably the best argument in favor of the 105S. All the procedding, i.e. DVR recording and FPV transmission don’t introduce any extra lag quantified in total about 30-40ms with or without recording. The camera can be uptilted up to 40-45 degrees, so compatible with severe acro free flight style. The camera sensor is blocked by a plastic bar into the camera hoursing. In practice this bar is doing its job correctly. It means that the camera is still free to move a bit inside the housing, especially after high throttle inputs. That’s the main source of the camera’s jello/vibrations we can observe out of the box. The devil is in the details!!!. It’s not a problem of PIDs, frame, softmounting… but a question of fraction of free millimiter in this bay. To solve this problem, it’s super easy…. just install some electician tape around the lens and reinsert gently without damaging the camera ribbon cable. The more tricky part is to reinstall the plastic bar to be attached with the two latteral screws. It’s a 5min fix… but improving drastically the situation. I really hope in the next batch, everything will be fixed out of the box. Files are recording @720p/60fps is a rather good bitrate. Here is a raw video recoded on the DVR. It’s super smooth…. thanks to the 60fps. More the sound is also recorded. It’s a nice bonus. Unfortunatly, you can already observe the light sensitivy is poor, colors not super rendered… turning a bit too much on the blue/purple colors. UNBOXING, ANALYSIS, BINDING, CONFIGURATION AND DEMO FLIGHT First good news, the machine comes with Betaflight V 3.2.0 very well configured out of box. You don’t really need to touch the OSD layout, LED light programmations, receiver settings. PIDs as well as the rates are the default Betaflight ones. A three way swich (AUX2) select acro, angle and acro+air mode respectively. In first testings, as many other reviewers, I noticed some vibrations especially after middle throttle inputs. I immdiatly applied the camera housing fix mentioned previously. After that…. no more jello reported. That’s great. The machine strangly seems to vibrate according the sound emitted…. but in practice no negative impact in the FPV result. The video signal is clear and stable !!!… but my main negative comment comes more from the poor light sensitivity… really not good enough IMHO. Shadowed zones are not well rendered … :(. The WDR is rather slow….. What a pity … With a better sensor, the 105S would have been almost perfect :(. Thanks to the 4S setup, the machine is a monster of power !!!!! Punchouts are impressive… and with default betaflight PIDs, results are already really really good. It’s a super fun 100% acro style machine definitively. Another drawback can be observed… Amperage reading on the OSD are wrong… It’s linked with a bad connexion of the lead wires to the FC. Except if you really want these informations, you can disable the display in the OSD settings. Flight times with the 550mAh LiPo is about 4min in acro style mode. CONCLUSIONS The Eachine Lizard 105S is a really good machine as soon as you apply the camera’s housing fix to remove definitively the jello. The 105S got supe strong ESC, a F4 w/OSD board and pretty well configured out of the box. The 720P recordings are good and super smooth the 60 frame per second rate. My main concern is more about the relatively poor light sensitivity of the camera sensor…. PROS + Powerfull machine !!! + 4S 2.5″ quadcopter + F4 + OSD + Great acro flyer + Great 720P@60fps recordings + FrSky XM+ flashed with RSSI for the OSD + No drift in angle mode + Frame more robust for direct crash on arms CONS – Jello/vibrations in the video signal linked with a small gap in the camera housing – Below average light sensitivity of the camera sensor – Amperage reading false – Difficult microSD card insertion/ejection – Rear LEDS/buzzer bar not solidely installed – Complex frame structure – VTX no IRC Tramp/Smart audio compatible This quadcopter have been courtesy provided by Banggood in order to make a fair and not biased review. Here is probably the lightest brushless FPV Tinywhoop BNF machine in the market !!!: https://www.banggood.com/HB65-65mm-1S-Micro-Brushless-RC-FPV-Racing-Drone-BNF-F3-OSD-5A-Dshot-25mW-48CH-600TVL-p-1269078.html After the good HBRC HB68 (recently reviewed) and the HB64… this new 65mm model is < 29g AUW !!!! For this new edition, they shrinked basically the HB68 frame a bit more in order to gain some weight everywhere where it was possible... Now more than 3g are saved from the original HB68 setup so close to 7-8% of original total weight. Not bad and very important especially when we know for such machine every fraction of gram matters. For the electronic parts, no real change: we have a micro F3 board with a builtin OSD, some 5A BLheli_S/Dshot 600 ESC (1S only) and ultra tiny 0603/16000KV motors. The AIO FPV solution is of course super light, around 3.5g and classic, i.e. a 25mW 48CH 600TVL CMOS module. I didn't reviewed the HB64 (~30g) but some feedbacks noticed a relatively weak structure to crash. Here it's sound more durable. Three choice of receivers are proposed, a FrSky (pro?), FlySly AFHDS-2A and spektrum DSM2. The battery is the same good and powerfull 260mah LiHV model. I really hope also the RSSI will be here for the OSD if the FrSky version is picked up. Wait & See. Remember close to 1 month ago I reviewed the Eachine Beecore V2, probably the ultimate flight controller dedicaced to 1S TinyWhoop machine in 26mmx26mm size. Here is the FrSky D16 version: https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-Beecore-V2_0-D16-Brushed-F3-OSD-Flight-Controller-for-Inductrix-Tiny-Whoop-E010-E010S-p-1267723.html Here, the FrSky D16 receiver can be turned into 8CH (with lower latency) or 16CH mode but in any case, the RSSI is sent to the last channel for the OSD rig and also sent by telemetry. More it’s compatible with EU-LBT preflashed radiocontrols… So it should work with all FrSky compatible radios. My first concern with the original V2 in D8 mode was the relatively poor performances of the Vreg part (~0.8A). No strong enought and probably full diode based… very sensitive to the voltage drop and requering at least a 40C battery. I really really hope, they improve the situation where for example you could have a receiver brownn out immediatly after the take off. Anyway if this problem is solved, this D16 version will be probably the best we can have for a compact brushed FPV Tinywhoop machine: a strong MCU with an OSD, a great builtin receiver with at least 300m of control range and everything around 3g. Associated with a 3.5g AIO module, Dark edition 7mmx20mm motors, a 66mm frame, you can build the best TW machine ever made. Be sure than a Eachine machine (QX65 Pro ?) will be produced soon in BNF edotion with this board pre-installed. As usual, Wait & See. Beecore V2.0 D16 version flight controller is a Ultimate version for 1S brushed Whoop racing drone. Eachine just announced a new brushed 120mm FPV quadcopter with the QX90C pro: https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-QX90C-Pro-with-F3-Betaflight-OSD-Buzzer-Telemetry-Micro-FPV-Racing-Drone-Quadcopter-BNF-p-1267721.html Even if brushless machines are now became the standard, here we have a 1S solution equiped of 8.5mmx20mm coreless dark edition boosted motors. The F3 board welcomes obviously a OSD chip and even a small buzzer is preinstalled. For the FPV rig, a classic 600TVL 25mW 48CH AIO solution is integrated. Notice also the lens can be tilted up to +15 degrees. The machine is powered via a 600mAh LiPo with microLOSI connector. Three choices of receiver are proposed: FrSky D8 (with RSSI display for OSD), FlySky AFHDS-2A and Spektrum DSM2/X. The total weight with the battery is about 50g, so lighter than other competitor machines and with on steroid motors, the performance should be not bad at all. You can also select three types of bundle: from “basic” to the “fly more” combo with 5 set of spare LiPo and props and a charger. Wait & See…. INTRODUCTION The C-me produced by Hobbico is a brushed Selfiedrone equiped of a 1080p camera and a GPS module to maintain the position. The massive argument of the Cme it’s probably its price. Sold below 80 USD…, not bad for a 1080p stabilized flying machine with advanced flight mode such as Follow-me and find me. It was even advertized to have a builtin EIS… but main probably it’s a false advertizing. The C-me is also very tranportable with some foldable arms and lightweight, so easy to pack it into the pocket. Let’s now discover this bundle. BOX CONTENT + 1 x Hobbyco C-me + 1 x USB charger + 1 x USB to microUSB cable + 4 x Spare props (2 CW, 2 CCW) + 4 x Prop guards + 1 x Instruction manual (English) The quadcopter comes into a very high quality bundle, color printed with a magnetic lock system. OVERVIEW All the main caracteristics can be found printed on the back cover. The 1080p@30 camera is associated with a 8Mpx sensor. More advanced flight modes such as follow-me, find-me, RTH and 360 degres auto-panorama tour are proposed. I regret the absence of an orbit mode or up & away mode … so popular for selfie drones. In folded position, the C-me is very compact…. perfectly rectangular, about the size of a 5″ smartphone… so no problem to install it in your pocket. The C-me canopy is 100% plastic based but a high quality material. -FRONT VIEW When powered on, notice the white led light. -SIDE VIEW -REAR VIEW The two ports available are all located on the rear side: a microSD card slot on the left. Please use a microSD card class 10 U1 minimum. On the right, a microUSB port to charge the 750mAh LiHV battery. -UPPER VIEW -BOTTOM VIEW A unique power bottom… Press and hold this bottom at least 3-4s to turn on the machine. The front white LED will also be tuned on. a small green light is solid when the machine is turned on. A major drawback can be noticed… the battery is jailed inside the structure… What a pity, because you will have to wait 1h40min to charge the internal battery. -WEIGHT Less than 150g AUW … For a geared system including a 2S builtin battery it’s correct. add 3.6g with the four prop guards installed Camera module The camera lens offers a field of view of 70 degrees only… Latterally a small white light is here to help to keep your orientation for LOS flights. This light is bright enough for a radius inferiour to 15m. It’s possible to manually set the orientation from 0 degrees down to -90 degrees. No possibility to control the tilt from the appz unfortunatly. The official specification claims a 8mpx able to record 1080p videos at 30fps. No information about the size of the sensor as well for the light sensitivity. Juge by yourself: here is a raw video sample recorded on the microSD card (prefer a Class 10 U3 model). As you can see, results are really not bad at all for a cheap model. The light sensivity is correct, compression factor not huge, colors rendering relatively faithfull and images crisp enough. Good work in general. The media information of the recording file confirms the 1080p@30 specifications. In addition of the high resolution file recorded onboard on the microSD card, the transmitted WiFi video link is also recorded locally on your smartphone/tablet. Here is the corresponding raw sample Here the video is in 720p format @25fps…. but results are also relatively good. UNBOXING, ANALYSIS AND TESTING The machine is connected via 2.4G WiFi so no risk of android incompatibility we can meet for some 5.8G recent models for example. First good surprize, the main interface is great: clear, easy, intuitive where all main features are directly available. More particulary, a really appreciate the animations associated with the compass calibration. The WiFI FPV signal is broadcasted in 720p format. Here one more time, the transmission is correct for a WiFi link, a minimum of 0.3s of latency and a frame rate about 15-17fps…. very acceptable for a selfie drone. On the main interface, you can retrieve the WiFi signal strength indication, the GPS satellites number. The general quality of the camera recording are good…. but unfortunatly no EIS is here … so stabilization results will massively depend of the wind/gust power… What a pity than the camera’s processor is not strong enough to perform EIS in the same time. The machine is stable… and one unique rate is proposed… the maximum speed is slow about 2m/s. One negative point is the absence of yaw command feedback on the interface. You will have to swipe left or right with your left thumb to yaw the machine. More throttle and yaw commands are not correlated as can be the forward/backward/left/right commandes via the right vitual sticks. Unfortunatly, no possibility in the appz setting to change this control behaviour for a more classic 2 virtual sticks. Another con point, at least with the model I received concerns the battery level status. The battery status under load (after take off) shows just after a couple of second a massive drop. Maybe my internal battery is damaged or the discharge rate not strong enough or the threshold LVC settings not well tuned. No possibility to set them in the interface. For the advanced flight mode, the follow-me function is working correctly but often can’t center correctly the phone’s holder. More, it can follow well a walker but can’t really follow something faster. The “find-me” function is more efficient. This one will automatically center the camera on you…. and work very well. In a second video, I tested more the 360 degrees functionality. It’s a basic panorama self-rotation mouvement. Be aware, you can’t run this function while currently filming turned on. You must stop first recording. If not recording, the 360 degrees will automatically start and will stop recording after the completion of the CCW tour. No possibility to change the rotation sens on the interface. The WiFI link is ok within a radius of 25m. The flight duration is about 7-8min with recording turned one. The machine will automatically land with the battery is depleted. As expected with a 150g machine, the C-me can handle well even a moderate wind. CONCLUSIONS An interesting model with good 1080p videos recording relatively stable but only in zero wind conditions. The appz is great and ideal for beginners. More the machine is light and ultra transportable. In another hand, unfortunatly no EIS to stabilize even better 1080p results and the battery can be replaced quick. This machine is direct competitor of the Hubsan H507A or the incoming DJI Tello. For this latter, even if videos are only recorded in 720p, this one offers EIS and better flight time. PROS + Cheap WiFi 1080p machine + Great Appz, very beginners friendly + Good 1080p recordings + Basic “Follow me” + Efficient “Find me” + Good packaging + Cheap machine CONS – No EIS – Builtin battery – No yaw command appz feedback – Battery reading not accurate – Not wind resistant This quadcopter have been courtesy provided by Banggood in order to make a fair and not biased review. It was not a real surprise but now with new micro F3 3-in-1 flight controller including, OSD, especially with the last announced CrazyBee F3 model, it’s not a surprize to see new BNF model emerging. Here is the Happymodel TinyWhoop variant (I guess another subdivision of WLtoys/XK): https://www.banggood.com/Happymodel-Snapper7-75mm-Crazybee-F3-OSD-5A-BL_S-ESC-1S-Brushless-Whoop-FPV-Racing-Drone-BNF-p-1266612.html Like the Boldclash B06, it’s a 75mm model (so 10mm larger than the genuine TW chassi) with 5A ESC BLheli_S/Dshot 600. Motors are 0703 but running @19000Kv… so among the fastest in 1S configuration. Of course the main interest is the presence of a BetaOSD compatible chip to overlay important informations in your FPV signal. Two BNF versions are proposed: one with a FrSky D8 mode … but also written switchable in D16 mode … If true, can be great. I really Hope RSSI is exported at least on the last channel. The second receiver is compatible with FlySky AFHDS-2A protocol. The main chassis is carbon based and standalone without the battery, the weight turns around 28g and close to 40h with a 450mAh LiHV (3.8V) battery. It’s a serious competitor of the Boldclash B06… at least for the first model introduced … but for the Boldclash, an upgraded version with more or less the same caracteristics will available late march. I will receive for the first editio the new FC (w/OSD) and the 20000Kv motors. The Happymodel, two bundle are proposed. One with three batteries. NEWS: Very calm period…. especially after the CNY
Drone News posted a topic in RC Drone Product News
Well … you probably noticed that … but no many news are published in D-M mainly because chine was out of bisiness during close to two weeks… More since 2-3 months less new machines are announced mainly because: – the market was oversaturated – some small compagnies dissipeared due to high competitions and poor sales – no real amazing novelties proposed Cet article NEWS: Very calm period…. especially after the CNY est apparu en premier sur Drone-Maniac !!!!!!!. After the Fiasco of the first Walkera Vitus …, and the first fixing with the Walkera Vitus starlight, the Vitus II is expected to be delivered this summer. They reduce/miniaturize the 3-axis PTZ to gain so weight… and promise to deliver better stabilization results without help of EIS. More they also increase the battery capacity to reach 30min of flight time. Obstacle avoidance is still here and the camera sensor seems to remain the same with a 4K@30 and 1080p@60 resolutions. It’s really a Vitus I fixed IMHO…. You want something more funny ? The final android version of the app promised for the last august is still not here for the Vitus I Here is the leak of the first photos… More to come Cet article NEWS: Walkera Vitus II est apparu en premier sur Drone-Maniac !!!!!!!. INTRODUCTION The Aurora RC mini 110 is the successor of the excellent Aurora 100 one of the first BNF 2.5′ FPV racer including a FC equiped of a betaOSD compatible chip. WIth the new edition, they upgraded most of the elements. First the frame is much more durable with 3mm carbon arms. The FPV camera is now a (clone of ) Runcam micro swift 600TVL model with high light sensitivity and efficient WDR. Motors are boosted to 1106 (vs 1104). ESC are now some 28A model supporting BLheli_S/Dshot 600. The FPV rig can deliver over 48CH up to 200mW with three choices of output power. Let’s review this new potential jewel. BOX CONTENT + 1 x Aurora RC mini 110 + 1 x Battery strap + 1 x Rubber anti-slicing pad + 4 x Spare 2035 props (2 CW, 2 CCW) + 1 x Screwdriver + 1 x Instruction manual (English) You will have to use the M2x7mm hexscrews to install props on motors. A unique recto but color printed instruction manual where all important informations are here Probably linked with recent airshipping restriction and also to save money but no more battery is shipped even for a BNF version OVERVIEW Paradoxally it’s absoluptly not a 110mm but more a 124mm …. So much larger than the former Aurora 100. The design is H based shape. At least all the lower frame and arms are 3mm so much more durable than the poor 1mm for the original Aurora 100. The machine looks really super solid… I am super confident about its durability to crash. -FRONT VIEW The CCD camera, a clone of the Runcam model is black. As you can see, the lens is not fully protected by the strucure… so exposed to a frontal central crash. Motor’s wires are protected by a dedicaced protection. The 5.8G antenna is installed in the rear section while the 2.4G more centrally. Another novolty is the new Gemfam 2035 props reducing air turbulence and reducing by consequence jello. -SIDE VIEW The three layers electronic tower is classic in design: the 4-in-1 (28A) ESC+BEC board on bottom, the main FC in the central position and on top the VTX part. On the left side, the microUSB port where you can connect the machine to Betaflight From the side, we can guess the two rows of lights associated with the VTX board. The blue lights are for the Vband selection and the green for the Vfreq. Configuration are coded in binary over three bits. -REAR VIEW Around the buzzer, two lights are permanently turned on… No specific light programmation done via betaflight. -UPPER VIEW Originally, the FrSky receiver module was located more close to the rear side… and in this position, the bind button was not durectly available. It’s advise to move the receiver few cm front. The receiver status and the more important the bind button are available through the top canopy section -BOTTOM VIEW To install the battery strap, you will need first to release a bit the four screws holding the main electronic power in order to manage to slide the strap between the lower carbon plate and the bottom of the ESC board. It’s also advise to install the rubber band. Cut with a scissor the band to fit perfectly the room available below. -WEIGHT Almost 128g with a 300mAh 3S LiPo Add 10g with a 550-600mAh model. Motors and props One of the major novolty here… 1106 motors more powerfull than 1104 models of course. Announced to spin @5500Kv… the main question: Are they 4S compatible ? I didn’t test myself, but I think yes. Camera module A direct clone of the Runcam CCD 600TVL model. Everything is the same, same WDR, firmware with same options. The Field of View is about 120 degrees. The rendition of this camera is just great…. No real possibility to ajust the lens orientation…. fixed by default to something around 20-25 degrees. Disassembling For the clone of the Runcam micro swift, the OSD plug is still here UNBOXING, ANALYSIS, CONFIGURATION AND DEMO FLIGHT The machine comes with Betaflight 3.2.2 pre-installed… but except the receiver section, no specific settings have been optimized for the machine. We have default PIDs, rates, OSD layout and Lights. After the binding, first bad news, at least for the FrSky D8 model, no RSSI sent by telemetry or on the last channel for the OSD …. It’s a real pity, they didn’t installed more a FrSky XM+ flashed with the RSSI firmware. From the first take off… the machine is super powerfull … What a beast !!!…. but with default setting…. from middle throttle inputs, a lot of oscillations are present in the machine.. Definitively, new PIDs must be tweaked. Generally both P & D values must be decreased as follow: With these new settings, the machine now flies beautifully: no vibration during punch outs, no bounce backs… A real glider in the air.. Super fun….. BUT I met twice problem probably linked with the same proble: 1) I noticed some errors sent to FC (by the receiver) forcing the machine to be desarmed while still being in the air 2) Some receiver failsafe tops or even worse, completly out of range while being only 50m of distance. I decided to change to transmitter to the Jumper T8SG and use better LiPos, some Eachine 550mAh 40C. From the ground range testing, I got a solid 150m… I don’t think the iRangeX radio is guilty because I had with, some great range with some FrSky D8 & D16 receivers. I think, the RC Mini Flight 110 requires battery wuth discharge rate > 40C. As you can see in the video, with my first SPC Maker 30C batteries, under big load, the voltage dropped about 1V and more… and was often below 9.5V. I guess the diodes of the builtin BEC stopped to work in such condition leading to a receiver reboot. The good news after swapping for more robust LiPo, the machine flies like a beast… no more fallouts linked with a bad receiver status.. I was able to fly beyond 250m without problem. The machine climbs like a rocket… It’s real impressive. The CCD camera works like a charm… This machine well tuned is super mega fun… Clearly one of the best 2.5″ machine I ever tested. CONCLUSIONS What a beast !!!!!!! Fantastic flyer machine, one of the best in the market actually BUT !!!!! this machine requires a super strong LiPo/LiHV battery with discharge > 40C. If not… expect sporadic drops linked with a receiver reboot. I regret deeply that now even in BNF bundle no more battery are provided. I regret also the absence of a FrSky XM+ receiver….. Whatever, I recommend this machine. What we could dream now ? The same machine with an XM+ receiver and a Runcam Micro Split combo 4S compatible of course. PROS + Strong 3mm frame very durable + Powerfull 1106 motors + F3 w/OSD + Great CCD FPV camera + Excellent acro flyer CONS – Basic FrSky receiver in D8 mode without RSSI – Need high discharge rate LiPo/LiHv batteries to not meet receiver brownout/disconnection. – Not well configured out of the box (PIDs, rates, OSD, LED lights) This quadcopter have been courtesy provided by Banggood in order to make a fair and not biased review. The board weights only 3.5g. Brushless motors can be directly connected via 3 positions microJST connector (seems to be 1.25mm model). The board can only works in 1S for LiPo or LiHv batteries. Sounds to be a pretty interesting model. Ideal motors are 0603 or 0703 models. For example the HB68 or HB64 quadcopters comes with such kind of motors with plug. INTRODUCTION The VIFLY X150 represents the new Brushless FPV racer from VIFLY. This model comes after the two excellent and well tuned R220 M2 & R130. With the X150, we have a completly new frame structure, a more classic 150mm X-carbon structure with strong 4mm arms. The main electronic tower welcomes a F4 Omnibus + OSD, a 4-in-1 20A ESC board BLheli_S/Dshot600 compatible. Motors are 1406/3300 KV 4S ready. For the 5.8G link, a foxeer CCD camera is now present and coupled with a 40CH 5.8G VTX able to deliver up to 600mW. This machine can be found in BNF with three choices of receiver: i) FrSky D16, ii) FlySky AFHDS-2A and iii) Spektrum DSMX. Let’s check this new racer. BOX CONTENT + 1 x VIFLY X150 + 1 x 5.8G Cloverleaf antenna + 4 x Spare props (2 CW, 2 CCW) + 1 x Wrench prop installer + 1 x Velcro band + 1 x Instruction manual (English) As for the two former models, no battery is included….. Maybe to bypass airshipping restriction….. OVERVIEW The detail of caracteristics sound promising…. with the F4 MCU…. but immediatly, as it happened to many machines F4 based, we must check that no crazy freakouts will be reported due to bad gyros behaviour. The machine comes directly fully assembled…. ready to bind. No screwing session required to lock the props with the M5 nuts. It’s a 150mm machine The thickness of arms are impressive…. a good 4.5mm !!! The machine looks super solid and durable. -FRONT VIEW The look is pretty cool with the X-structure…. 4″ props are installed, a pretty good option for a 150mm machine. The main central welcomes very solid metallic standoff…. I regret the absence of a strong bright frontal light to make LOS flight more easy. With the battery installed beneath. At least there is a carbon plate to avoid a direction contact of the LiPo with the ground in case of hard landing. -SIDE VIEW The main central tower welcomes centrally the F4 boad now including a builtin OSD…. The MPU chip is not soft-mounted… so what about vibrations transmitted y motors will impact the flight performances ? Notice also, the antenna connected is located latterally on the left. The top carbon plate will jail half of the SMA connector…. So in case of massive crash, the antenna will break but probably not the VTX’s SMA connector. That’s a good design. The right side shows the VTX’s button… where you will cycle between the 40CH supported by short pressing. No Vband subselection first… so statically, you will press 19 times before to reach your favorite Vfreq. -REAR VIEW On the rear side, we can find the microUSB port very easy to access whatever the props are installed or not. There is also a buzzer not far. An XT30 is present as main lead cable. I regret also the absence of rear (progammable) lights. A small display will cycle between the current Vbat and the current selected Vfreq (Vband, Vindex)… written on the last two digits. -UPPER VIEW No real free gap with the 4″ prop solution….. The SMA 5.8G antenna connector and the FrSky XM+ (D16) receiver. This latter is taped on the top carbon plate. If you want to increase the camera max orientation, you will probably need to move backward a bit the receiver. The main 4-in-1 ESC is much larger board present in the main tower. I strongly advise to cover both side with some liquid electrical tape to be a minimum waterproof. -BOTTOM VIEW A battery carbon plate protection for the battery is present. Notice that each arms are attached to the main structure via a bold & nut system. Probably the Achille’s heel of the structure. At least if you break an arm, the maintenance will be easier too. -WEIGHT 238g with a 500mAh 4S LiPo….. so 12g to go for the 250g Limitation. Unfortunaly, it will be hard to attache an action cam and stay legal in US. Motors 1406 brushless motors…. @3300KV. So no problem to handle directly 4S batteries. 4045 DAL Triblade props …. They are strong and solid. Good choice. Camera module Probably the other novolty versus the former VIFLY generation. Bye bye CMOS sensor and welcomes to a CCD SONY model from Foxeer brand. There is also button below the camera… I guess it’s a boot button to reflash Betaflight in case of prior flashing problem. The Field Of View is super large, i.e. 150 degrees… maybe too large…. The speed’s feeling will be impacted. The machine will look slow on your goggles… 120 degrees would have been probably a better choice… But the lens thread is in M12 format so no probaly to change the lens. The camera is locked in NTSC mode. I didn’t see a way to plut a camera’s OSD cable. The camera can be uptilted up to 45 degrees. Be sure to free also the front camera’s wires to increase the max uptilt angle. UNBOXING, ANALYSIS, CONFIGURATION AND DEMO FLIGHT It was expectable with VIFLY but the machine comes almost perfectly tuned in Betaflight 3.2.2 pre-installed. The receiver, PIDs, Flight mode, OSD have been correctly done out of the box. Of course, flight mode switch configuration is very dependant of the pilot’s preferences. For the OSD, I found that crosshair and throttle were missing from the original configuration, but it’s a minor detail. The rates also have been adapted… First take off with this machine and the machine starts to hover from 25%-30% of throttle’s input in 4S… it’s crazy. Paradoxally, the throttle input’s range for low values can be a problem to handle correctly low altitudes flights. Play with expo on your radio to adapt. Punchout are just great !!!! Very powerfull machine A so great acro machine….. It’s super stable machine, no bounce backs at high throttle… Great. The FPV camera’s job is great also … shadowed zones are well handled. A good idea to move for a CCD camera …. In term of flight, of course, when flying agressively acro, the flight is about 4min with a 500mAh 4S battery. CONCLUSIONS Another great BNF machine from VIFLY…. I really like it. Highlly recommended model: strong, powerfull, super acro flyer, well configured out of the box. The F4 FC and new CCD camera offer some improvements for sure….. A no-brainer BNF machine for sure. What we would like to see in the next generation ? The same time of machine but with a builtin Runcam micro split … to record in 1080p as well. PROS + Great and powerfull machine + F4+OSD + Solid frame (4mm arms) + Well configured out of the box + 1406 motors + 4″ + FrSky XM+ w/RSSI for the OSD + Good CCD camera + < 250g machine AUW + Stable and no drift in angle mode CONS – Too wide FOV of the camera (150deg) – Missing rubber anti-sliding pad – No Lights for LOS flights This quadcopter have been courtesy provided by VIFLY in order to make a fair and not biased review. I would like to thank them for this attitude. INTRODUCTION The Eachine QX65 is the new model in the brushed TinyWhoop communauty. The model comes after the Eachine E010S and the Eachine E013. We still have a main frame full plastic based with a ducted system to boost hoveribility. With the QX65, motors are “simple” but boosted 6mmx15mm announced to be 68000 RPM. The main novelty comes from the flight controler. We have the new revision of the Beecore V2 now including a OSD chip is association of the F3 MCU. Three choices of receiver are proposed: a FrSky D8 (with RSSI?), a FlySky AFHDS-2A and a specktrum DSM2/X model. For the FPV, we have obviously a AIO solution with a 700TVL CMOS NTSC camera coupled with a 48CH 25mW 5.8G VTX. There are also three choices of packaging: Basic, Standard and advanced. I will review the advanced bundle with 6 extra batteries, a parallel charger and two complete spare frames. Let’s have a look to the new Eachine QX65. BOX CONTENT The advanced box offers 6 complete batteries and everything to replace a broken element of the frame structure. We could maybe also expect some spare motors… since they are boosted, they durability is obviously reduced. + 1 x Eachine QX65 + 6 x 250mAh 1S LiHV batteries with JST PH 1.25mm + 1 x USB charger (JST PH, SH) + 2 x Spare top canopies + 2 x Spare frame + 1 x Parellel charger (6 in parellel) + 8 x Spare props (2 CW, 2 CCW) + 1 x Screwdriver + 1 x Prop wrench remover + 1 x Instruction manual (English) What a first surprize !!!!! In my bundle, one LiPo took fire during transportation!!! and damaged partially two others…. After checking, some batteries are stored with more than 4V….. With temperature variations, LiHV can be damaged seriously. OVERVIEW The machine is a 65mm model full plastic based. The quality of the plastic is good… flexible but very durable as well. The QX65 can handle hundred of crash without problem. Full caracteristics….. In comparaison with the FrSky APUS MQ80 With the deluxe edition, a parallel charger is including charging either at 0.2A or 0.5A mode. You can also select a LiPo (4.2V) or a LiHV(4.35V) charging mode. The charger can be connected to a DC power unit or to a 2S-6S LiPo with a an XT30 connector. Ideal to recharge your batteries far from a Wallsocket. More a +5V USB port is also available. The display shows succefully the voltage of the six ports. In practice it’s a little bit hard to monitor 6 charging in parallel. -FRONT VIEW The general design is cool…. The 5.8G linear antenna is installed vertically. It’s a simple coaxial cable but well protected in general. -SIDE VIEW In order to gain a fraction of gram and make the Binding & VTX selection more easily, the latteral sides are holed. It’s possible to pass through a small thin tip of a screwdriver for example. More, the flight controller is installed on four Dampening O-ring. It will remove potential Drift in angle mode. -REAR VIEW The main battery lead connector is unfortunatly a microJST pH 1.25mm … probably to make the machine the lightest as possible but not the best solution to draw high current At least, it’s possible to read the two VTX’s rows… one associated with the Vband selection (upper blue one), the second with the Vband (lower red). -UPPER VIEW -BOTTOM VIEW The main incredient …. the Beecore V2 board. With this frame (dislike the E011’s one), the microUSB port is easy to access. The FC is flashed with Betaflight V3.2.2…. The 2.4G antenna is soldered on the bottom surface. Mist be installed vertically down. -WEIGHT 26.8g AUW… Not so bad…. At least 1g more lighter than the FrSky APUS. Motors 6mmx15mm, probably some racerstar models. Battery From late 2017, now all models come with LiHV battery with a max voltage of 4.35V. For the QX65, a 250mAh 1S model is here with a discharge rate of 35C. Unfortunaly, the charger plug a small JST PH 1.25MM….. not the best option to deliver high current. Camera module Good news, it’s possible to ajust the lens orientation by playing with the two latteral screws. The maximum angle we can obtain is about 25 degrees Disassembling UNBOXING, ANALYSIS, BINDING, CONFIGURATION AND DEMO FLIGHT The default betaconfiguration is correctly done at least for the radio, flight mode and OSD. For the last part, it’s a new good point, since in general, it’s never done by producer. The PIDs are the default BF 3.2.0 ones…… If you want to perform flips & rolls, it’s advised to increase rates to at least 1000deg/s. In term of light mode, the AUX switch is assumed to be a 3-way position model. In upper position, it’s acro… in middle, angle (6-axis stabilized) and in down position it’s one more time aco + airmode. My major concern is about the FrSky receiver. While with the original Beecore V2, the RSSI was here (AUX5 & Telemetry)…. Here no more RSSI information. They flashed a new firmware to remove the RSSI support. IMHO they did that to avoid Voltage swag reported with the original Beecore V2. Not sending RSSI save some current. Remember, the builtin Vreg delivers only 0.5A … it’s not enough for the AIO and the FrSky receiver in 2-way mode. When armed, the first good surprize is the power of these coreless motors…. You can take off from 40% of throttle…. That’s great. Imagine, it was 75% for the FrSky APUS…. What a difference. Vertical punchout are not bad at all…. It means you easily recover from an acro figure with a minimum altitulde fallout. The machine can handle much more easily a moderate breeze…. but don’t expect too much in wind conditions….. The machine is so light. More no drift is observed in Angle mode…. That’s great too. The FPV link is good in general… not a lot of breakup after crossing 3-4 walls…. The 250mAh LiHV battery offers 4min of flight duration…… The Vbat reading as expected offer a drop under load…. CONCLUSIONS This machine is a nice little surprize…. Despite being 6mmx15mm based, it’s a relative powerfull machine thanks to: light weight, boosted motors, LiHv batteries…. The addition of a OSD is a real plus … at least to monitor the VBat. The QX65 is a great indoors flyer acro capable…. My only concern is the absence of RSSI in OSD for the FrSky edition. The possible damage of the LiHV battery during transportation is also another concern. Except that, it’s a recommanded machine…. at least in the basic edition. PROS + Powerfull 6mmx15mm brushed TW FPV machine + Great deluxe bundle + 250mAh LiHV + Good 700TVL CMOS camera + Lens orientation can be ajusted + Acroflight possible + FC dampened + No drift in angle mode + Charger with LiPo/LiHv mode CONS – Beecore V2 builtin FrSky received without RSSI – MicroJST PH 1.25mm connector – LiHv shipped full charged: can puff or take fire This quadcopter have been courtesy provided by Banggood in order to make a fair and not biased review. INTRODUCTION The FrSky Apus MQ60 is a surprizing product from FrSky more known to deliver excellent 2.4G radio solutions. Here we have a Brushed FPV TinyWhoop machine with classic ingredients: F3 SPracing Evo board but without OSD, 6mmx15mm motors and a simple 600TVL CMOS 25mW 48CH AIO module. Let’s have a look to this product. BOX CONTENT + 1 x FrSky Apus MQ60 + 1 x 200mAh 1S LiPo with + 1 x USB charger + 1 x Instruction manual (English) No spare props …. no extra battery…. For A 80USD bundle …. It’s not a good starting sign. OVERVIEW The structure is ultra classic, a 65mm ducted machine in order to improve hoveribility vs the fast mouvements. The plastic quality is in the average…. not among the best plastic quality I met. -FRONT VIEW The 5.8G antenna is installed vertically outside the canopy via a top hole on the canopy. It’s a good point for the FPV range. In the other hand, the camera is installed perfectly horizontally … so not super adapted for fast forward mouvement despite the 120degrees wide angle of the lens. -SIDE VIEW The left side shows a plastic tab to be press for the Vfreq, Vband selection. As for almost all AIO module, a short press will cycle within the eight Vfreq for selected Vband. A long press will cycle within the 6 supported Vband. Through the Skyblue canopy color, it’s hard to guess the index of the blue light (Vband) and the red light (Vfreq)… You will probably need to open the machine by removing the small three screwdrivers. The green small light is the receiver status light. It will flash slowly when the binding procedure is in process and faster when bound. When the binding operation is over… the green light will be turned off. -REAR VIEW The microUSB port location is well designed…. ideal to level accelero & gyro when the machine is connected to Betaflight. -UPPER VIEW -BOTTOM VIEW The F/S, binding button of the builtin FrSky XM receiver (in D16 mode). The RSSI is sent to the last channel but since there is no builtin OSD… it’s useless. -WEIGHT 28.2g AUW…. it’s a lot…. for 6mmx15mm motors Motors Some 6mmx15mm brushed motors … no RPM mentioned … LiPo a 200mAh 1S LiPo model… no LiHv…. ending with microJST SH (1.25mm) connector. Camera module Disassembling The dedicaced F3 SPracing Evo with a builtin FrSky XM receiver. The FPV module is plugged via a connector. UNBOXING, ANALYSIS, BINDING, CONFIGURATION AND DEMO FLIGHT The machine integrates a Betaflight 3.3.0 so probably a beta version of the of the incoming V3.3 branch. The machine is tuned to 16000PWM in order to reduce the noise emitted by motors. In the other it will slightly drop the performances of the machine. After binding (if you have an IR8M radio, set the finefreq option to 63), you need a minimum of 75%-80% throttle input to take off…. Weird…. the machine is absoluptly underpowered….. You will need to anticipate a lot your elevation in your flight.. It’s really annoying. Acro flight with this machine is a dream…. Forget it…. Really motors are not strong enough… The flight time is impacted, about 2min-2min 30…. far from the 5min promised. The LiPo also IMHO is overated in term of discharge rate. The only good news is about the FPV signal… clean with a good range. CONCLUSIONS What a disapointement ……. probably the worst tinywhoop FPV clone…. I ever tested….. I didn’t find really any positive points for this machine. More the price is very expensive versus competitors….. “Player FrSky shoot again”….. I am not sure that FrSky will continue to produce such kind of machine. PROS + Betaflight compatible + MicroUSB port location CONS – Completly underpowered – Poor flight time (2min30) – Expensive – No builtin OSD Dump_BF_3_3_0_Apus_MQ60 This quadcopter have been courtesy provided by Banggood in order to make a fair and not biased review. I would like to thank them for this attitude. A small revolution is announced in the toyselfie-drone’s world with the C-me Cme WiFI FPV: https://www.banggood.com/C-me-Cme-WiFi-FPV-Selfie-Drone-With-1080P-HD-Camera-GPS-Altitude-Hold-Mode-Foldable-RC-Quadcopter-p-1260477.html Probably the first time I see a brushed foldable Selfie Drone with GPS, barometer and 1080p@60 with EIS !!!!!! for around 70 USD!!!! The price is just incredible versus competitor. Ok we have a brushed machine but it’s light foldable. The flight time is announced about 10min with a 2S 750mAh LiHv. The 1/2.3″ Camera sensor offers a field of view of 70 degrees and the lens orientation can be manually ajusted from 0 down to -90 degrees. More we have relatively advanced flight mode: a real RTH, a follow me !!! There is also an orbit mode and “find me” function (probably the drone stays in place and the camera targets the phone holder). Altitude hold is done via the GPS & barometer for outdoors. For indoors, only the barometer is impacted (no VPU… for such price it was expectable). The range is limited to 20m… but for a selfie-drone is enough IMHO. If the camera rendition/sensitivity is correct, the frame rate not too much choppy and if EIS do a good job …. It can be an hot cake seller… The price is very attractive… Of course don’t forget the incoming DJI Tello… but with only a 720p solution. Hubsan is in danger with this machine. It’s time to deliver fast a machine with EIS for them !!!! INTRODUCTION There have been several attempts to produce brushless TinyWhoop FPV machine, among them the excellent Boldclash B06 in pratice slightly larger and heavier. With the HB68 we have a real brushless Tinywhoop format with the same dimensions and amount of weight. Here the maximum AUW is about 32g… Thanks to 0603 motors ..even smaller and lighter than 0703. More the HB68 integrates a F3+OSD flight controller, a 5A BLheli_S/Dshot 600 ESC solution and a 600TVL NTSC CMOS camera coupled with a 25mW 48CH VTX. Let’s review this new indoors FPV machine. BOX CONTENT + 1 x HBRC HB68 + 1 x 260mAh LiHV with JST PH2.0 connector + 1 x MicroUSB to MicroUSB extender board + 4 x Spare props (2 CW, 2 CCW) + 1 x Wrench prop remover tool + 1 x Instruction manual (English) As instruction, a simple piece of paper with the flight controller F3 omnibus layout Another bag with the microUSB extender. Thanks to it, you can calibrate the machine more easily on a flat surface. OVERVIEW It’s effectively an 68mm machine mostly plastic based…. but built with an flexible good plastic. No problem to absorbe shocks. Only an the main X- structure is in carbon. Arms are plastic. In comparaison with the Boldclash B06. The HB68 looks much more compact and smaller. The carbon chassis is a 1mm model… A mixture between plastic and carbon, maybe to save some weight. -FRONT VIEW The look is classic, a large “Dark Helmet spaceballs” canopy style surrounding perfectly the AIO FPV camera. All the electronic is perfectly protected. 2.4G antenna can be installed vertically via the two holes located on top of the canopy The camera is not specifically tilted for agressive FPV sessions. -SIDE VIEW -REAR VIEW -UPPER VIEW The left hole allows you to insert a thin tip to press the VTX button. Unfortunatly the top canopy is not translucide enough to guess the green and the blue lights associated with the Vfreq and Vband selection respectively. -BOTTOM VIEW The battery tray is based on two rectangular plastic pieces holding the battery. In practice, versus time, some little loose can be observed. The risk that the battery can be ejected midflight is then non-zero. Good news for maintenance, all motors are connected via plugs to the main board. The microUSB port is located below. Thanks to the microUSB extender, you will be able to level the HB68 in betaflight without problem. Even if only plastic based, the arms are solid. -WEIGHT 32.2g AUW with a FrSky XM+…. Maybe a 31.2g machine can be obtained with a lighter and more compact receiver. Motors and props The magic ingredient to save even more weight, i.e. the 0603 motors annouced to be 14000Kv…. so clearly 1S only. Battery 2018 is the year of shifting between LiPo to LiHV batteries. Here we have a 260mAh model with micro JST pH 2.0 connector. LiHv pushes the max voltage up to 4.35V vs 4.2V for a LiPo. You will need a modern charger to enjoy this technology. Camera module A classic AIO combo is installed. A 600TVL CMOS camera with a Field Of View of 120 degrees. Large enough for indoors applications. The VTX is 25mW broadcasting the FPV signal within one of the 48 different available Vfreq divided into six subbands. Long press the button the change the Vband (blue light) and short press to cycle the Vfreq inside the current selected Vband. The module is a NTSC only model. Disassembling UNBOXING, ANALYSIS, CONFIGURATION AND DEMO FLIGHT Since it’s a PNP model, the pre-installed Betaflight 3.2.0 must be configured for almost everything from scratch. I installed a FrSky XM+ where by flashing an adequate firmware you can enjoy the RSSI feedback on the 16th channels. The receiver is about 1.6g with antenna… There are even light receiver, around 0.8g… every grams matters . With Sbus, iBus or spektrum serial connexion, the UART3 serial port must be turned on. Classic settings must applied: Dshot600, PID Loop up to 4Khz/8Khz… and rates must be pushed up to 1000 deg/s (and more) to flip/roll relatively fast. OSD informations also must be limited to the strict minimum: battery voltage, flight mode, time ellapsed, and eventually throttle input, crosshair and if available the RSSI. For the last setting, you need first to match the RSSI input to the right receiver channel in the receiver section. With BLheliconfigurator, I strongly advise to push the buzzer strength to 255 to make the ESC buzzing more loud and decrease the beacon delay to the minimum value of 1min. With first take off…. I was not impressed by the powerlift…. A minimum of 65% of throttle input …. but the relative good news, above 85%, the thrust can be felt and effectively, no doubt the machine is more powerfull than any Brushed TinyWhoop machine equiped of 0615 motors… But is-it suffisant to be a super acro flyer ? IMHO … not yet…. or with a AUW of 32.2g, it’s already over the limit for acro-style flight session with flips & rolls. Another hand, the machine is super stable…. no instability even after a fast forward or hard U-turns… that’s great. The machine with a moderate wind, can be super fun to fly outdoors…. and is faster than any brushed competitors. The flight time is in average between 2min30-3min …. It’s not impressive… despite the LiHV battery… The FPV link is rather good, in the average of this kind of AIO camera. CONCLUSIONS For sure we can mark this machine as “not far to be the right brushless TinyWhoop machine”….. Yes it’s more powerfull for sure …. but not yet enough. No really negative points for this machine except the flight duration. Everything works flawless… robust, relatively fast, good FPV link…. A good indoors trainer for winter time…. With 32g AUW, no risk of damages/hurts. Ok maybe a bit expensive versus competitor (Boldclash B06)… Notice also is announced he HB64 with a builtin FlySky receiver under 30g….. PROS + Brushless TinyWhoop + Super stable machine + More powerfull than 0615 brushed machines + F3+OSD + 260mAh LiHv battery + 32.2g AUW (w/ FrSky XM+ receiver) + Tiny 0603 motors + Strong enough for outdoors CONS – Still lack of power for being a great acro flyer – 2min30-3min of flight time – Expensive This quadcopter have been courtesy provided by Banggood in order to make a fair and not biased review. I would like to thank them for this attitude. The successor of the great Eachine Lizard 95 is now announced !!!!: https://www.banggood.com/Eachine-Lizard105S-FPV-Racing-Drone-BNF-Omnibus-F4SD-28A-Blheli_S-ESC-720P-DVR-5_8g-25200mW-VTX-4S-p-1258632.html The new incoming Lizard 105S is slighty larger but they improve almost every electronic and structural points. Now the main carbon chassis is reforced by latteral carbon bars… so fast latteral crashes will be even better absorbed. The central part is taller and the camera free of props occlusion. In term of compounds, the Lizard 105S now integrates a F4+OSD board with BF 3.2.0. Good news IMU are dampened so no risk of crazy freaks out More the MPU is the 6800 variant, known to be stable. Motors are 1104 but @6000Kv so 4S compatible directly. Maybe here we could expect some 1105 motors type…. The ESCs handle 28A !!!, compatible BLheli_S/Dshot600 of course and can manage directly 4S obviously. We have a buzzer, led strip bar configurable via betaflight… One important novolty is the FPV camera also recording the live video in 720p@60 fps !!!!! Great !!! Well of course two questions are raised with such combo: 1) What will be the extra latency introduced into the FPV signal to encode this 720p flux at 60fps and 2) what will be the general light sensitivity of the sensor ?. For the second question, I am a little bit afraid since it’s only a basic 1/4″ CMOS sensor behind the scene. Of course, it won’t reach the quality of the Runcam Split Micro… but who knows, it can be a nice surprize. To broadcast the FPV signal, a 25mW/200mW 48CH VTX is here. Three choices of receiver are offered. 1) A FrSky XM+ (excellent choice for the range, but I hope preflashed with RSSI compatible firmware), a FlySly AFHDS-2A receiver announced to support telemetry via iBus (a novelty) and Spektrum DSM2/X model. This new Lizard 105S looks really promizing….. I should grab one for a review….. So Wait & See.
