TEST: Eachine VR007 Pro 40CH 5.8G FPV goggles (4.3″ LCD 500cd/m², -95dBm)

INTRODUCTION

The Eachine VR007 Pro is nothing than the upgraded version of the Eachine VR007, probably the cheapest basic 5.8G FPV goggles available in the market. In this new first entry bundle, we still have a 4.3″ LCD display but with a brightness increased to 500cd/m². The builtin 5.8G VRX supports 40CH and is advertized to have -95dBm in sensitivity so in theory should double the FPV range (range is doubled every gain of 6 dBm). Finally, the battery is also upgraded almost doubling the capacity. Let’s discover this bundle.

OVERVIEW

The right side welcomes three buttons respectively referenced as “+”,”-“,”M” in the instruction.

There are used to increase/decrease a setting value and to enter into the display’s menu where you can ajust brightness, contrast, saturation, aspect ratio and the language. The “+” button can also directly cycle between the five supported Vband while the “-” cycles among the 8 Vfreq in the current selected Vband. Notice, there is no possibility to ajust the fresnel lens distance via slider button …. a real drawback for old myopic eyes. Personnally, it’s not perfectly focused (got 6/10 right now snifff snifff :(, I used to have 12/10 in the past)

Notice also the absence of an AVout …. so no direct possibility to record your FPV session

The 5.8G antenna connexion is done via a RP-SMA connector

To open the goggles, remove the 4 screws …

The mask border is covered with a basic facial sponge.. With high temperature, you will probably sweat a lot with.

120mm … is a little bit narrow for large head… I would say for non-asiatic heads.

Around 40mm… so it’s ok with correction glasses

The whitesnow is here sign that the firmware if FPV friendly with the video signal is lost.

The current Vband/Vfreq as well as the corresponding frequency is displayed in the bottom left position. A good point versus the first model.

On the top right position, you have a basic indication of the current charge of the battery

When the voltage drops under the LVC, the indication turns in red color.

Even if there is no official AVout, there is Video out pads…. So you can easily mod the VR007 for a future DVR connexion.

The battery have been upgraded doubling the general capacity… No problem to play in the field more than 1h. The

As you can compare, results of the VR007 Pro are really really poor … Poor in term of resolution, poor in the pixellization effect (no miracle with a QVGA LCD display) but the more problematic is the oversaturation in color rendition especially in the white domain whatever the settings I tried to optimize … A really really bad point :(.

-95dBm ????? Really, the breakup cames much more earlier and often …. ….

CONCLUSIONS

I will make short … despite being relatively cheap, I don’t advice this FPV goggles… The FPV session rendition is poor, color oversaturated… and the promised extra sensitivity a fakenews. You can find much better for almost the same price.

– Poor RX sensitivity (real -95dBm ?)
