Good day!
I got the machine assembled and all axes move freely. I'm an old school Mach3 enthusiast.
While doing some initial testing tonight with my stepper motors (https://www.oyostepper.es/goods-77-Motor-paso-a-paso-Nema-23-bipolar-18-grados-19-Nm-28-A-32-V-57x57x76mm-4-cables.html) I noticed that the motors get very hot. For other CNC builds I've done using wood or aluminum, stepper motor heat has not been a problem. And for those machines that's normal for the motors to get hot. With the PLA mounts, the heat really bothered me.
I put a thermometer on the motors and after about 10 minutes, the temperature was about 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
I can imagine that the RAMPS setup would run cooler, but I've never played with that arrangement and I don't know.
So how hot do the steppers get in other people's builds?
Thanks,
